Hubby Says: (Update)

1 minute read time.

 Hubby Wrote:

It seems like there are no more new tumours, everything outside the lungs is still OK, but the old ones are still growing. (Over 23 small mets in the lungs). The biggest one is 1 inch now. They are only growing slowly though and so far not blocking any airways or pressing on any blood vessels and so the Oncologist thinks that we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing now which, for him means keeping an eye on it and doing scans every 3 months.

My CEA count almost doubled in 3 months from 13 to 23.4 but high normal is 5 (smokers), normal is 1 to 3.

The last part was disappointing to hear, but the no new tumours, no liver or lymph node tumours and slow growth is encouraging.

Thanks for all your good wishes
.

Back to me now:

Hubby is still upbeat and positive. He had expected to feel poorly last fall, but here it is February, and he still feels well. We know that everything can change suddenly and we need to be diligent, but every extra day of feeling well is a bonus. He continues to take his Tibetan medicine. Next CT scan will be sometime in April.... and that's SPRING!!!

Love to all.

Oh Mo - that is good news about the tumours but not so good about your CEA count.  What a worry for you.

    Look after yourself.

    Lots of love, Grace.

Mo that is good news and whatever he is doing, be it his beliefs, the Tibetan medicines, his positive attitudes, he is getting some benefit and should rightly be very pleased.  I know how worrying this is for you and the rise in CEA is of concern, but this one is notorious for false positives as well as false negative results.  So it may not be as bad as it looks on face value.

either way some  (((((((((((((((((   hugs ))))))))))))

    for you both.

    Thank you Grace & Juls!

It is true that the CEA count is notorious for false positives, but in Hubby's case, it has historically been a reliable indicator. During the past year, this count has been rising steadily (not going up & down), and so it is very likely correlated to the cancer.

But overall, we feel that this is good news as the Onc had predicted that Hubby would begin to feel unwell last fall, and he's still feeling fine, and it's mid-winter. We're taking this to mean that the reprieve is continuing.

    Love & Hugs, Mo

Great news Maureen.  Hope you and hubby are celebrating this reprieve and will continue to enjoy it for a long time yet.  Caroline XX
