second post

Less than one minute read time.

First of all I'd like to say thaks to everyone who replied to my first post it was very touching and totally unexpected.

So I went to get blood taken yesterday at doc's and when I got home I had a phone call from the hospital wanting me to go in next thursday for my consultants appointment.  Is it just me or is it odd that the hossy rang me ??  don't they just send out letters?

now I am all worried that its v serious coz they rang.

I know I am hypersensitive at the mo and everything is setting me off, one minute teary the next i'm biting someones head off, but please someone tell me I am wrong and they just had a cancellation.

the girls at my work (I am a school cook and there are 7 of us in total) know something is up but I can't tell them 'oh I might have cancer but don't worry I'll be ok' its just not me and they know me too well.  how do I get through the next week ??

    Hi there,

Of course you are worried  and the waiting to find out is always very hard but think back to your first blog. You said that your doctor send a letter to the ENT saying it was urgent. This is probably the hospital responding to that. They won't know the blood results if you only had them done that same morning. So it doesn't necessarily mean its bad, it just means your hospital is on the ball, responding quickly, which is a good thing. If it turns out that you do need treatment then the sooner you have it the better.

I know it's easier said than done but try to relax a bit and look upon the appointment as a positive thing. With regard to the girls at work, if you all know each other so well, tell them you have to see the consultant and I'm sure they will support you and help you get through the week.

Let us know how you get on,

                   Will be thinking of you,

                        Love lizzie xx

Hi, I've read your posts, and how ell I know that feeling of trying to read why a hospital has done this or that - don't panic!  Sometimes hospitals are extremely efficient and someone will surprise you with their willingness to go 'that extra mile', and sometimes they're the opposite.  My guess is that because of your mum's thyroid cancer, they are taking your lump seriously, as they should any lump, anywhere.  As for getting through the next week? you will  Just take a deep breath whenever you feel those panicky thoughts about to overcome you, and count to ten. One foot in front of the other, my love, let me know how you get on,  Jeanie xx   .

  • 'Phone calls from hospitals are much more routine nowadays so I really wouldn't be concerned. As deejay says - baby steps!

    Best wishes,

    Hi Dinnerlady,

Time for a coolhead dont go jumping ahead of yourself. Wait until the tests are done and the results are back, before making yourself ill with worry. Have Strength and be positive, you wont go far wrong. All the best.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.XX

my sister works in new admissions and daily gets a list of patients to ring with appointments. She can ring quite a few before she gets someone who is answering their phone so its just routine and you were there to answer or hadn't switched your mobile off. We all know the waiting is the worst so don't worry (or at least try not to).  Fran
