Just a quick update for today, not much more to update really. Mum's been moved back to Ward 43 from Step down which means she's on a "normal" neuro ward again, back where she started. That's a real result. We can expect her to be in for perhaps a couple of weeks, but a much faster than expected return, so fantastic news.
One thing I'm not sure if I made a note of before, but made me laugh today when I was recounting it to our friend Geoff.
On the Friday before surgery, mum phoned to get the number of the hairdresser so that she could get her hair cut before surgery. Shorter hair is easier to look after, and if she's not able to shower, then not being able to wash it could be an issue if its longer.
Needless to say, in the male part of the family, this message got completely misinterpreted and within a couple of phone calls, it had turned into "mum's shaving her head"!!!!! Cue panicked phone calls and a plea to the hairdresser to leave the clippers behind.
She had a lovely cut done, a nice, easy to manage bob and it really suits her. She's delighted with it and the amount of hair shaved for the op was minimal so her hair will look pretty normal once the staples are out.
Anyway, had a good run around at floorball tonight, feeling pretty in control now, and looking forward to seeing mum on Saturday. Must go shopping though - have NO FOOD in the house!!!!
