That’s a Wrap!!

That’s a Wrap!!

Well “that’s a wrap”, I hope.

Following a routine mammogram in November 21 I was diagnosed with grade 3 Stage 2 Her2 + & Oestrogen + Breast Cancer in my R breast:(

I started 6 x TVHP Chemotherapy Infusions every 3 weeks from Jan to May 22 with the Phesgo injection.

Then surgery  to remove the 20mm tumour and 6 lymph nodes, of which 1 was cancerous:( In June 22.

Histology of the tissue showed live cancer cells unfortunately so then I started “targeted therapy” a drug called Kadcyla, a chemo IV drug plus a monoclonal antibody! Who knew!!!

14 cycles from July 22 ending May 23

In July 22 I was put on a research trial and they introduced a immunotherapy drug or a placebo.

Although a double blind trial (neither I nor the Drs knew what I received)  I reacted big time and had what they call a cytokine release syndrome and was hospitalised for 6 days & my lymph nodes were enlarged alarmingly.

I remained on the trial as one dose may have been enough, which means I have regular follow up and will do so over 10-14 years (Fingers crossedFingers crossed)

Radiotherapy started after discharge from Hospital and was finished in October 22.

In addition I had to have  6 x IV doses of a drug to prevent osteoporosis & cancer spread to my bones!! Zoledronic Acid!! Every 6 months over 3 years!!

I managed to keep most of my hair through treatment using a “cold cap” “, in America you have to pay for that yourself:(

So last Weds was my last IV bone drug and cannula on the cancer unit.
on Letrozole and will be for another 8 years I reckon as was 8/8 positive for oestrogen.

I have recovered well and have lost 2 and a half stone using Slimming World which has been fantastic! Feeling fitter than ever, so onwards and upwards as they say xx
