Hi
Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with Transitional Cell Carcinoma, and informed I would have my left kidney removed. I am still in shock and am finding it difficult to find much written about TCC. At the time of the surgery my consultant said that my paraortic lymph nodes were enlarged and removed, this was all intially equally worrying, but he has since said the cancer did not spread to these. I have a meeting with an Oncologist on Monday and feel very nervous, this is the beginning of a journey and I am not quite sure what to expect. I have so many questions such as: How long does thepain take to subside after a nephrectomony? I am still on tramadol and find pain is unbearable of some days, I have good and bad days/nights.
I am also wondering if there is such a thing as preventative chemotherapy? Once diagnosed with Cancer it obviously is with you for life, but how do you stop it defining who you are and try to mainatin some semblance of normal life? what questions should I aks the Oncologist? What should I expect?
I am getting married in December and feel like planning my wedding is tempting fate!
