Hello my friends, I've been wondering, since I went into remission, whether it is appropriate for me to be in the chat rooms any more.
The rooms are for patients and carers and although I have been both over the past few years, I am not any more.
I suppose I should "get on with life now" which is exactly what my doctors have been telling me.

I joined the site at the beginning of June as My Dad had Myelofibrosis, a pre-leukaemic cancer of the blood. He got a chest infection which in turn assisted his condition to develop into Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. I found chatting on these forums a great help in 'my hour of need' when I was looking for REAL people who had been through it themselves.
Unfortunately, my Dad died last Tuesday (07/07/09) but, the 'friends' that I found on this site have helped me with kind words since then.
It wasn't me with the Cancer but, going through it with my Dad ( I was his main carer) was the most heartbreaking event in my life so far. Watching someone you love losing their independance completely and having to rely on someone to do everythng for them is intolerable. However, you have to be strong for the person you're helping and keep your tears and heartbreak to your own time if possible.
Due to the experience I went through with Dad, I will remain on the site as I hope I can maybe offer advice to other carers out there.
I think you should stay too - saying as you've been a patient and a carer, I think your experiences would be very helpful to others
