    Hi Tracy,

I realise you are devastated but please don't give up. Have you asked your Mum's GP whether he can put you onto a different consultant to get a second opinion - or even just to ask what he thinks of the "no treatment" verdict? I can't believe that they've given you the full reasoning behind their crazy decision; your Mum should be given the same chances everyone else gets, so they've got to have a damned good reason for refusing.

I don't know if there is a treatment "Ombudsman" in the NHS but I'm sure if you were to ring the Macmillan Helpline & spoke to a nurse they would try their utmost to help.

Whatever you do, don't stop coming here to your friends who will support you. Promise?

    Love and hugs,

    Annie  xxx

Tracy, first of all, don't stop coming on here because you so obviously need our support.

Secondly, I agree totally with Annie and I said it to you myself in another post, please ask for a second opinion for your mum.

My dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer spread to his liver, lungs and beyond last February. His cancer was inoperable, but palliative chemo was offered to give him  some more time and a bit  better quality of life. Unfortunately his bowel perforated and he passed away a couple of weeks later before any treatment could be given, but I'm really surprised that your mum has been told no treatment is to be offered at all.

Please push for a second opinion. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Like someone said to you another time, it is difficult to speak up,but,if there is ever a time in your life you can do it, do it now!

Just remember we are all here for you hun.

    Take care, Christine xx

This is the place to come to rant and rave! Not everyone is offered chemo, it depends whether the doctors feel it would be beneficial to the patient but for your own peace of mind, I'd ask for a second opinion. It's your right, it might offer your mum a treatment which wasn't on the table previously and it'd put your mind at rest too. We'll all be here to help in any way we can, love Vikki x

What everyone else said: go back to your GP, demand a second opinion, demand an explanation. If nothing else, surely there must be palliative care?

    *hugs*
