Had the first oncology appointment today basically told the cancer was stage four ,three lymph nodes involved, not primary and containers squamous cells....
Long rotton story short, radiotherapy will be shit, lots of awfull side effects and no guarantee that the cancer won't return....watch,wait do nothing and no guarantee the cancer will return either....so big decisions for dad to make.
Quality of life at almost 80 I feel is the priority no point gaining a few months or years if there spent in pain and feeling crap and not being able to eat...time that you have left at almost 80 needs to be spent feeling as well as you can be not feeling like bloody death or wishing you were.
I won't voice my thoughts this has to be dad's decision ..he gets the pet scan done Thursday and they'll book the radiotherapy incase he chooses to go ahead..
What a shit show...
But whatever Dad decides Is the right decision for him.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
