Dad feels like shit
He's in a lot of pain...the consultant did warn him ,after his surgery he asked,are you in pain ? And Dad replied ...No...Don't worry you will be....I guess Dad was warned.
Dad's face where they did the partial parotidectomy ,I think it's called,is completely numb,his lip on the tumour site side doesn't move the same and he says his tongue feels weird too.Hes constantly got his head in his hands and says he has awfull shooting pains ,I'm assuming that's the injured nerves firing of at random in protest.Hes not sleeping well ,can't get comfy and has a lot of phlegm which triggers more pain when he tries to cough and clear it.He just looks broken and down and utterly fed up.I feel so sorry for him I just wish I could take all the pain away if only so he could rest.
I keep saying it's early days ,it's only been a week ,it'll get easier....I hope to god it does.
Were now waiting for the full pathology results and nailed on staging...the consultant said that the tumour was bigger and more sticky than they thought from the MRIs and he's definitely requires radiotherapy.
I look crap too ,I've broken out in cold sores all the stress and worry finally showing in my face....
Be strong,you can fight this ...that's what you tell people with cancer isn't it ....but what if you're too knackered and in too much pain that you just want to think balls to it ....I just hope dad can find the courage and determination to get through his recovery and any treatment offered
Will he be cured....if I'm utterly honest
..no I don't think so ,but I'm.hopefull he'll reach a point where he can live pain free and relatively happy alongside the cancer diagnosis....
Once cancer hitches a ride it's like shit in the treads of you're shoes ,it's hard to scrape of completely but you can lesson the smell.
