Stragglers Smashed

Less than one minute read time.
Finally got scan results earlier this week which showed no signs of cancer, this, followed by a visual checkup from my oncologist gives me the all clear for now (although no guarantees that cancer will not come back) which is a great relief and now allows me to continue with my recovery. The oral thrush however is refusing to shift and swabs have been taken to see if an alternative form of medication can get rid of it. Eating is getting slightly easier although scar tissue around neck is somewhat swollen today and restricts swallowing a bit. I still need monthly checks from the consultancy team in Southampton but they seem happy with my progress, and especially the fact that I have put a few kilos of weight back on. Next steps then over next four weeks is to try and eat more by mouth and then get PEG tube removed, I can then hopefully start some form of physical rehab before I am fit enough to return to work later in the year. Onwards and Upwards...

Hello Dave ... great news on the all-clear ! So now you can concentrate on your recovery, I'm glad that those swabs have been done as my ' oral thrush ' turned out to be Staphylococcus Aureus which needed a specific antibiotic to clear it up. Hope you get that sorted very soon.

Glad that your eating is getting easier, too ... just take it slowly and you'll get there, even though I know it's been a long-haul for you. Take care, onwards and upwards !
