Unf admitted to Southampton hospital last wed with dehydration and throat pain, feeling a bit better now as they have upped pain relief and am back on syringe driver hope to be back home and out of here by monday

Oh Dave, so sorry to hear that and you have my sympathy ( been there, too ) but hopefully you will get home soon. It is a long-haul to recovery and sometimes we wonder if it will ever happen ... but take heart in that it eventually does.
Dave as you know my husband finished his treatment at the same time as you. Just wanted you to know that he's experienced difficulties too in the last three weeks with swallowing and general discomfort around the throat area. He was just adapting to things, like you, and now seems to have stepped backwards. Incredibly frustrating but sadly it seems to be perfectly normal.
Hang on in there and keep your chin up my friend. Things WILL get better.
