Ravenous

Less than one minute read time.

dont know what has happened today but just want to eat - trouble is none of the stuff i can manage seems very filling - managed to stay awake all day and a longer walk with the dog this afternoon which will help me sleep later.  Have asked my Doctor to consider reduction in pain relief through syringe driver just to give me a physical step towards weaning myself off the oxycodene (am currently on 40mg per day and have asked for it to be reduced to 30mg next week) - got to get these tubes out of me and get off the pain relief!!  Will try and get dietitian to have a chat then later next week to discuss a plan to get off PEG feeds totally and get that removed too.  Tried some sort of menthol sweet today but taste buds are so shot away I could hardly taste it, still the swallowing is getting easier now so should be thankful for small things,,,

Good morning Dave ... just to say that you are slowly getting there so don't try to rush into everything too quickly, take your time in reducing the pain relief. Taste buds can recover although it may be a wee while longer yet, so patience is required yet again !

I find that having porridge for brekkie certainly helps fill a gap ... I buy that Oat So Simple which you cook in the microwave. So perhaps you could give that a try ? If it's too thick then dilute it down to the right consistency with extra milk ... it's sometimes nice as a supper dish, too.

Take care and hang on in there : )
