On The Mend...

1 minute read time.

So now back at home and at long, long last am pleased to report a daily improvement in my health (first time since back in early November!).  Whilst not wanting to tempt fate the past two nights have seen better sleep patterns and although waking up with a sore throat I actually feel as though I am now officially on the mend after radiotherapy treatment.  Not feeling as sick as much, seem to be a little more energetic, appetite coming back (as soon as pain has gone I will be getting food and drink via mouth), and considerably less mucus being coughed back up.  My consultants had predicted all this, almost to the day.  Why should I have ever doubted them?  They now tell me the next milestone of 2-3 weeks until all side effects from treatment to have calmed down totally (end Jan-ish).   Just got to keep the dreaded infections at bay and things are looking up.My wife and family continue to be as supportive as ever now i am back home and that is a great help. Whilst still reliant on morphine however i need to be realistic and ensure I set an achievable recovery plan.  Hopes of end of Feb to mid March may need to slip a month to the right (I will discuss this with my Line Manager and GP next week).  This could tie in nicely with arranging a nice all inclusive holiday before returning to work after Easter.  The Garden Pub has been built and I now have three names on shortlist:  The Stanhope and Star Lodge, The Spirit of Stanhope and The Shield and Stanhope.  I am leaning towards the first option.  Time now for next round of meds on the slow but sure road to getting myself better.
