As I prepared to travel to southampton for the last of my 30 I looked into the mirror to observe what this treatment has done to me. Strangely none of it has been unexpected, and I am sure I have fared better than most due to being relatively young, fit and self disciplined. I have lost so much weight, evident around my saggy turkey neck, my gaunt looking cheekbones and eye sockets adding to the Halloween look of the 'Living Dead'. The redness of my skin to face, neck, throat and shoulder areas has only just become noticeable, as has the urge to itch but trying not to as been told to try not to break the skin. Away from the face the beer belly has long since gone, muscle tissue has wasted away across the board due to almost 8 weeks of inactivity, and skin looks old and saggy on backs of hands. Still nil by mouth - less very small sips of water, and inside, my throat pain still rages, the lack of taste still frustrates me, and the pain when swallowing hurts so much. My right shoulder and collar bone are still sore and it hurts to extend neck and jawbone during my regular physio exercises. So, in summary, I am in a bit of a pickle still. I know for certain though that "Things are Gonna Get Better" over the next few weeks. Each record of getting better will to me be a great achievement and I will have plaesure sharing them with you on this blog. 2014 Here We Come!
