Into Week 3...

1 minute read time.
Not much to blog about this weekend, feeling pretty much the same as last weekend with a crap taste in mouth and taste buds and saliva glands on strike. Main thing is that I have no pain yet and we start Week 3 of RT tomorrow. Weekend spent watching lots of sport on TV, visitors on Sunday which is always good. Really struggling with sleep and surprisingly even though feeling tired I can spend hours lying awake in bed thinking about nothing and everything at the same time. Friday night I grabbed 3 x one and a half to two hour sessions, I remarked in the morning " how is it possible to have twelve and a head hours in bed and still wake up in the morning feeling more tired than the night before?" yesterday night was a little better with 2 x three hour sleeps, although tired throughout today I have managed to stay awake till a little later to try and get a few solid hours in when my head hits the pillow. Really struggling with lack of taste, and subsequent lack of appetite, but forcing myself to continue swallowing as many calories as I can just to keep the weight up. All food seems so bland, I am tempted to add more spices but ar afraid that will aggravate my throat and make it sore. The only way to describe how mouth tastes is like the morning after the night before, where one too many alcoholic beverages were consumed and finished off with both a hot curry AND a hot chilli doner kebab! Despite brushing of teeth regularly, the horrid taste soon returns and I am back to square one again. Docs tell me that the taste 'may' return after treatment but to expect saliva glands to be pretty well knackered. Still, we are into December now, and I have two weeks behind me and 'ticks in the box' for the first 10 RT sessions, which will hopefully never need to be repeated. I remain in a positive frame of mind and view this as a course of treatment rather than an illness (if that makes sense?).
