Home Again...

1 minute read time.
Too much sleep during day led to the most restless and uncomfortable night yet. Now gargling mucus in my sleep, to wake with a coughing fit when it gets too much. My mouth now feels as though it has been taken over by aliens dut to the RT and morphine combinations. Constantly been biting inside of cheeks, my tongue and lips as they have been so numb with morphine overnight. Smashed out RT28 which was the toughest most claustrophobic and sickly feeling yet. With two left to go this will not pose a problem. Docs said I can go home this afternoon, so I have packed up ready. Trouble is I need a district nurse to change my syringe fed meds over xmas and boxing day! Fat chance of that? They are now looking at alternatives as to how to get the slow release anti sickness and pain relief before they can let me go! I have now been given options - 1. The district nurse in Poole can cover but they need all my docs like today. 2. I come down to southampton xmas day and boxing day to get syringe reset. (Either spoiling my driver or my wife's xmas and boxing day) 3. Take a hit for the team and stay in hospital over xmas. OK decision made and I have decided I cannot sepnd another day longer in here - so option 2 it is. Made it home mid afternoon to be looked after well by all family. Christmas Day tomorrow, I will enjoy it the best I can...

I'm sorry you've been so out of sorts the past few days, I missed your blogging! What a grim time you are going through. My husband too - it's unbelieveably horrid. But everyone reassures us we will get through it so I just wanted to wish you a peaceful and uneventful Christmas and hope that 2014 is a good and healthy year for you. Just max out on the morphine and hopefully you won't recollect any of this horrid stuff. Take care x

Oh Dave.  Extra special hug for you.  The finishing line of your treatment is in sight.  Once you are over that line things do get easier.  You won't be having to get up to travel to the hospital every morning.  You can wear pyjamas all day and get the mucus coughed up in the comfort of your own home.

Think about next summer.  The sun will be shining and you'll be in your garden pub with a nice cold beer watching the football on TV.
