Hi, sorry I can't comment as I haven't been in your position, but have had breast cancer.  I think you are very brave to have this done and can understand completely why you are having it done.

I have tried to get my daughter and sister to have this screening done, but my sister says she doesn't want to know because it would put her in a dilemma and having her breasts removed would be drastic.  My reply was, so is having cancer and possibly dying!  I think in your position I would do the same.

I'm here anytime you want to chat and you can send me a private message if you want.  I'd love to hear from you and hear how you are getting on.

Best of luck for the coming surgery.  Best wishes, Christine xx

i have had that surgery. bylatteral masectomy, and tram flap.

it is a big surgery. my surgeon lead the field in it and had 3 surgeons from england fly over to northern ireland to watch mine, she was also on a televised documentry adout it.

i went down to surgery at 7am and came up from recovery at 7pm, i think the surgery only took 7 hours, she told me she was faster than most, and thats why they came to watch her.i was in hospital 9 days and was told to take 4 months off work,i love my job (hairdresser), and was back to work after 6 weeks.

the shape was good. i have a scar hip to hip, which healed really good and a new belly button.

i had mine in 2004, and i`m sure things have got better as they always do.

i had already had b.c. and it was to try to prevent spread, unfortunately, it was too late for me.

but if i were in your position i knowing what i know, i would definately do it.

people say its like having a tummy tuck and i can without doubt tell you its not!. you will not have your tummy muscle that reaches from your pelvis to chest they use it to form your new breasts, so your tummy does tend to stick out a little (well it depends on your size) i was very fit with a flat tummy, and my sisters tell me they dont think it does. gets rid of any streach marks lol.

i have a 28 year old daughter and i think she knows to have it if it comes down to it.

p.m. me if you would like to ask me anything. good luck, liz xx

i sort of understand where your brother is comming from............. he`s right about the insurance, i have`nt been able to get any since 99. and as we`ve moved house twice since then, the house is only insured in my husbands name, also i think men think they cant get b.c., and they dont seem to handle things as well as women. (we are the stronger sex, lol).

i also had the hysterectomy, which wasn`t bad at all,  mine had spread to my uterus, and as you have 2 beautiful girls you dont need it anyway, lol.

seriously.......... your going through a lot at such a young age, but i really believe prevention is better than cure.... i would sell my soul to prevent my daughter going through even a tenth of what i`ve been through.

    good luck, liz xx
