RCC/Liver secondary/Sutent & MRI????

I was rediagnosed with a nodule on my Liver & something on my remaining kidney 2 weeks ago for the 3rd time.......was put on Sutent straight away & told that case would be discussed at next MDT.

Now out of the blue have received a MRI scan appointment & unsure why, Im guessing they either want a closer look at the Liver as there is a problem (although my Onc did say that although it is there it wasnt life threatening) or they are considering if the tumour is operable.

Really anxious as not sure why MRI has been requested.

Does anybody have any eperience with Liver Tumours, Sutent, & surgeries to Liver.

I had a Liver resection last year but not sure if its an option this time if had it before Onc said tumour looked to be quite deep in Liver but did confess that he was no surgeon & would speak with Liver surgeon.

Hate being this anxious :~(

Hi,

I have recently read the criteria used by one specalist liver unit . My mum had four wedge resections last year and is presently waiting to hear if they will take a lobe away. This would leave her with about one third of her liver which is sufficient. It does grow some to compensate. As long as they have enough viable liver to preserve liver function. Mum also was suddenly called for more scans. In her case it was to forward the scans to the liver unit for more consideration.
