Not Again !!

Less than one minute read time.
After having my beloved Dads funeral on friday im wondering whats wrong with me as I thought grief was an all consuming feeling. I have been carrying on normally and getting through the days quite well. That may now change as I have just found out that my best friends husband has breast cancer !!!! He is going in on monday to have his breast removed and at the moment they are staging it at zero - which is I suppose good in a way . This now brings back all the feelings of when Dad was diagnosed and the fact that so many people have told me 'oh, once they cut you open, it spreads'.I am now so worried for him as he is only 49. He has been told that he can be tested for a certain gene to see if his children are likely to get it as well. OMG.... ! As we have only just lost Dad emotions are so raw at the moment. I dont quite know how im feeling.

Hi Sarah, I know how you feel.  You think you are coping so well, then something comes along and it's like it's all starting over again.  Hard to get your head round.

As for people saying, once they cut you open it spreads, I've heard this said for many years, but loads of us have had cancer cut out without any spread.

I hope your friend's husband comes through this ok.

    Best wishes, Christine xx

    Hi Sarah

Please don't worry until you know the results of anything.  You are emotionally drained at the moment and it often takes 'something else' happening to set you off on the down train.  My husband was told that his cancer had not spread anywhere else, at the very beginning, according to his scans.  He had his bowel tumour removed and during the operation they found the liver mets.  So things might not spread after an op but might have already been there hidden anyway.  What you must say is, good luck to your best friend's husband, thank goodness it was found first than last.  Take care of yourself.
