Feeling flat

Less than one minute read time.

Hey

Just feeling really flat ove rthe last few days. I know that a hysterectomy is a big op and it has only been like 2 weeks but I just thought I would be seeing some improvement. My back and legs are aching probably because of all the laying around and I generally just feel really crap.

I guess I just a bit down about everything. The shock and adrenalin that kind of gets you through the tests and operation are wearing off and now Im just left with the reality of whats happened. Dont know whats hurting more right now my body or my heart.

Dear Robynn Not sure what to say to make you feel better - but a friend of mine who had a hysterectomy took a while to recover both physically and emotionally. And she didn't have any other health problems - so don't be too hard on yourself. Rest up, look after yourself and I hope you feel stronger soon. X

Blimey Robynn give yourself a chance to recover, it will take months and I am afraid you will have to be patient. I had my hysterectomy plus other surgery and it took a long time to get over that. If you try to do too much you will cause yourself problems and it will take even longer. Sorry i can't make you feel any better love but i have been there and done it. Give it time and you will start to feel better..love carol x

Hi Robyn - Don't forget all the hormones that will have been shook up and affected by having a hysterectomy - I'm not surprised you feel low.

I know it's a cliche - but try and concentrate on getting yourself a bit stronger every day, but DON'T set unreachable targets!   Hope you feel a bit better soon, Jeanie x

    Hi Robynn,

Sorry to hear that you're feeling down.

It's totally understandable after what you've been through. I felt the same way as you, once my treatment was over I was just like "Woah, what just happened to me!" - it will take a while to feel more positive, but it will get better.

Hopefully you have someone to talk to about your feelings, I know that sometimes it's hard to speak to family and friends so maybe you could ask your Doctor about seeing a counselor?

My Nan had her hysterectomy in November and she started to feel a bit stronger and better physically about 6 weeks after. She took it slowly at first and gradually built herself up. It will take time, but you'll get there.

    Love, Hayley xx
