Two Week Wonder

1 minute read time.

So I guess the last time I wrote here I was waiting to see whether the haematologist was going to take an interest in my breasts and unsurprisingly he said he was about blood not boobs and I was referred to see someone in the breast clinic to be seen within two weeks. The day after this news I went home for a week and a half so I was quite concerned I had missed the contact they might have made to make an appointment but if I am honest, not so concerned that I did anything about it. I was far too busy enjoying myself. I saw various family, celebrated two birthdays, met a friend's new first born child, met new significant others, ate out A LOT, went to Blue Pool in Dorset and Marwell Zoo...it was exhausting and wonderful (I took a horrendous amount of photos).

Anyway in Sunday Hairy's grandma had a stroke which was scary and Monday (a part from a cheeky Derwenthaugh walk) was spent travelling to/visiting her. She's a total love bless her and I think she will be OK but she is struggling to get her words out which is frustrating her terribly. So yesterday was my first day back at work and it finally occurred to me that since I'd had no appointment letter, I ought to call them. I called the GP who confirmed the referral was made then called the hospital who informed me that I couldn't be seen within the two week wait limit. Eh?! I am concerned that they are battery farming consultants in the north east now though. I was very cheerfully told they had no consulants available running clinics and they were unsure when this would be rectified. Fast forward 10 hours and I get a call to tell me I have an appointment on Thursday. So either they've grown a new batch of medical professionals super fast or I'm off to give the cleaner an eyeful of ginger skin!
