Any Ideas Why

Less than one minute read time.

Hi

For a month now my mum has been trying to contact the Macmillan Nusres that her and my dad had a meeting with when he was first diagnosed with terminal Lung Cancer. So far no-one has rung her back, even after leaving several messages. And she is now feeling very down about it.

I think that although family and friends are there to help, she needs the help of the nurses on a more practical level to answer questions she has.

Anyone have any ideas as to why on-one is getting back to her or how we can get to actually speak to someone to get her the help she needs??

thanks

Sarah

    Hi

I had the same problem although they did actually ring back after about a week. Hopefully by the time you read this your Mum would have heard from them.  The only thing I can suggest, is ring the Day Unit. They are usually very helpful.  Hope this helps.

    Hi

I think that is disgusting, so far our nurses have be brilliant and always ring back the same or next day, they need to pull their socks up, complain it just isn't right.

Kind regards, hope you get some luck

    Hi Sarah,

I'm so sorry to hear that your parents haven't heard back from your dad's Macmillan nurse - that's obviously not at all the sort of support we try to offer people.

I'd like to follow this up to try and investigate what's happened. To do this, I'd need to know some personal details from you, which it's not a good idea to publish on the site. Instead, can you send me an email on community@macmillan.org.uk?

Can you include: Your full name and contact details, your dad's name and address, the hospital where he's being treated and the name of the Macmillan nurse if you know it.

I can then ask the team in your local area to look into this and try to get some support for your dad.

In the meantime, if any of you have questions, you can also speak to a cancer information nurse on our free helpline (0808 808 0000, Mon-Fri, 9am-8pm).

    Take care,

    Priscilla
