After finally getting some info of some use from special I think I've persuaded M to complete the chemo course, basically because it's the right way to go and I can't be bothered with going through this again because he didn't have all the rounds.
So I actually managed to speak to special this morning and what an eye opener that was. Out of a twenty minute conversation I think 15 of them were spent with me teaching her about psychology of patients and how to not steam roller people and give them some choice. I had to explain that not taking all those antibiotics is just a level of control for M, he's not damaging his health by not taking them when he's ill he's just not taking them when they're not needed.
She then had to be on the end of me telling her what was going to happen next, M will have round 5 on Friday and 6 two weeks later. Any decisions made at multi disciplianry team meetings need to be communicated and discussed with him and he needs to be in agreement or at least have the chance to put his view forward as to what should happen and when. The killer and final blow came when I informed her I'm not completely stupid in healthcare as I spent 10 years in health and social care giving people a voice and a choice! The silence was telling.
So we're off again on Friday, scan results tomorrow and then we'll see what the future brings!
