This time last week (Thursday 13th July), Macmillan staff took to the streets for the annual MacTakeover Day. On this day, we are allowed to fundraise for Macmillan across London. You may have seen us dressed in our bright green t-shirts, wigs, and even fancy dress!
The Cancer Information Development team were stationed in Warren Street, and we had a great time chatting to people, laughing and hearing stories of how Macmillan has helped to make a difference in your lives. The generosity of people was inspiring, and we loved having the opportunity to see the positive impact Macmillan makes.
Thank you so much to everyone that donated, your money will make a real difference to people affected by cancer. Here is an example of what the money you donated goes towards:
* £24 can pay for a booklet on Talking with someone who has cancer to help 50 people affected by cancer.
Our team really got into the green spirit of Takeover Day! Here are some photos of what we got up to.
Here we have editors Sofiane (left) and Lauren (right) rocking the green wigs!
The sun was shining bright and early at Warren Street.
Emma and Stu pulled out a lovely selfie at lunchtime.
Lucy, Elissia and Hannah finished off the day with wigs, glitter and chocolate. Our favourite phrase was ‘Donations and celebrations!’
Thank you!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated, smiled and chatted to us last Thursday. Macmillan couldn’t do what it does without your support! If you didn’t manage to see us on Takeover Day but want to get involved, don’t worry! There are still plenty of ways you can get involved, from fundraising at events, volunteering or signing up to an e-campaign.
We’ll be back for MacTakeover 2018 next year, and maybe more of us will be persuaded to wear wigs! I’m sure you’ll agree(n) that they look fabulous…
