Saturday August 7th 2010 - We're back!

1 minute read time.

Well, we've just got back from La Nucia, after a week of relaxation.  The villa was lovely, great pool and good aircon which was very welcome!  The weather was beautiful and we all had a good time except that mums mouth gave her problems throughout the week.  It was a real shame as mum felt really well but her mouth was extremely painful, possibly due to her refusing to remove her denture and also eating a lot of steak!  After the first couple of days she gave in and kept her denture out when we were at the villa and accepted the need to eat softer food.  Having said this she enjoyed being away and is determined her and I will go back at October half-term!

We will contact the dentist on Monday and ask him to arrange for her to see a specialist at the hospital.  Something he had previously sorted out but which mum cancelled without telling me!  If anyone has dentures and has soft linings or soft plates could you let me know how you've found them.  Mums mouth is obviously very tender and I know you can get soft dentures but when I asked the dentist he said not to get them as they only last about 3 months.  My view is that 3 months may allow her gums time to heal and so it may be worth considering them.  She can't leave her denture out all the time to allow her mouth to heal as she can't eat or drink without it and will definitely not go out in public without it!  She has now been suffering with this for at least 8 weeks and has had 5 visits to the dentist.  Anyone help?
