tomorrow step 2 finish line in sight

Less than one minute read time.

Tomorrow i will be going to meet my next set of nurses the ones that will be with me on the radiation step of my treatment i'm sure they will be as nice as the chemo nurses or the breast nurse who where with me at the start of the horrible trip . I have to say they all have been brilliant which does help.

I'm now quite nervous about the radiation side effects i was really lucky not to suffer to bad through the chemo and i just think with my good old scottish skin (blueish /white with freackles ) i will bloody fry but on a brighter note this is the last leg if it was a race i could just about see the finish line .

  love and hugs to all

    Hi Kaj

Like you I didn't suffer too badly thru chemo. I also had rt and it wasn't too bad, just tiring going every day for three weeks! Staff were fantastic as I'm sure yours will be.

Just remember you can keep on 'cooking' for up to two weeks after which is when I developed a tiny blister, which became a large open area. But with right dressings from GP I am coping with it and its easing every day. As with most things it looked so much worse than it felt! Was more uncomfortable with being on my neck but everywhere else ok just pink. Slap loads of cream on. I like you am fair, always more likely to come back form hols with a rash rather than a tan!

Wishing you well and knowing you'll deal with it the same way you did chemo and will get thru it with ease.

    Love and hugs

    Hi Kajice,

I have got one more chemo to go, then start radiotherapy straight after Xmas. Unlike you, I have been awful all the way through the chemo, really ill and sick, so am not worried at all about the radio, it can't possibly be as bad as the chemo! So we all look at things from different angles I suppose. Wishing you the best of luck with it all, and keep me updated with what to expect.

    Take Care,

    Hey Kajice

As you know I have just started R.T. this week, day 2 in and not as bad as I thought. I am covered in freckles, so I understand your concerns, but I was advised to drink loads, put on loads of aqueous  cream twice a day , only use baby soap, and no shaving. Keep up you excersises and sleep if you are tired. I was also told and I hope you are also told that R.T. is a breeze compared to Chemo. Here's to you and I will see you at the finishing line ok xxxx Take Care and Keep cosy. Donna

    Hi Kajice

I had RT after my op. but no chemo.  But unlike the rest of the ladies, nine months after the last session and my skin is still glowing.  The kind breast nurses told me that it might take up to three years before I'm able to use smelly soap, deodorant or a razor blade.  Just for the record: I have a darkish skin (Medditerranean) but by lump was deep inside my breast touching my lung.  So I had some very heavy doses of RT.  Still, good excuse to buy new 'softer' underware (silk of course!!!)

    All the very best
