Mid October 2009 I thought I just had a bit of a cold, turned out to be pneumonia. I had to be taken into ICU after I started to cough up blood. Ended up on a ventilator and NG tube for a week in ICU then another week in a regular 'lung' ward.
I was taken into hospital on the 29th of October, exactly one year after my granda was taken into hospital for the first time when he was diagnosed.
Now almost 15 months on my granda is still doing very well, he has had problems sleeping due to pain in his side but prescribed sleeping tablets and painkillers have helped. His last check-up at the cancer centre was on the 28th of October and there is still no progression or change in the tumour, so the oncologist Mr Stranex reccommended that his next appointment is in 3 months rather than the usual 2.
My family still refuses to talk about it even though it is becoming more evident each day that my granda is in pain and has started to eat less, I doubt we will ever discuss it and as usual everything will be bottled up.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
