dad had a fall

Less than one minute read time.

saw dad this afternoon, i cooked them beef casserole for dinner, then got a phone call about 9pm, dad fell from the comode, rushed round, ambulance on way to help him up, he was laying on floor with pants down, that isnt like my dad at all, its heart breaking as hes such a proud man, covered him and hubby pulled pants up, took 3 ambulance women to help him up and took an hour, he was in so much pain, even after taking morphine, he has grazed elbows and knees, ambulance women have goven me letter for dr that says we need more help as i cant cope, its nights, mum has to have sleeping tablets cause of her illness, we need night help, or dad is going to have to go into hospice, feel like such a failure even saying that though, feel like i should look after dad, but im finding it so hard to cope with all this, i just want my big strong teddybear of a dad back

Hi. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. Please do not feel a failure, you are not. You are there every step of the way and I bet your family are so proud of you.

My Mum had a fall last week and by chance I heard her frail voice at 4 am crying out my name. She to had grazes and bruises and you feel helpless.

Can Marie Curie help? I am not sure to be honest but please let me know how you get on.

You must take care of yourself to and you are doing a great job even if you doubt yourself.

Stay strong. My heart goes out to you and your family

just got back from seeing dad, he is on the macmillan ward, they are wonderful, its not good though, he cant move, cant eat or drink, is just crying out in pain as the morphine isnt touching it, on a drip for fluids, his breathing is bad and he has oxygen mask on, his breathing keeps stopping for about 10 secs then starts, they have said they will ring in the night if we need to be there, x
