Last few days

Less than one minute read time.

Well i have to say i didn't see this coming until it was nearly here

We were expecting this to run it's course as Oesophagul cancer, closing of the wind pipe being the next stage before a decline, but it seems it's the liver cancer that will do the deed, apparently the nausea is down to the toxins the liver is not getting rid of, basically it's shut down & this is it, the last few days, it was only when the doctor said he'd visit twice in 24 hours & our McM nurse rang & said she'd see us that afternoon that alarm bells started ringing.

To be honest this maybe the kinder way, the descriptions of the windpipe closing leave you dreading that, so perhaps this is an "easier" route out, we have the whole team on standby, just pick up the phone & they'll be here, for which we are all immensley gratefull

I am so sorry, Andrew, that you are now faced with this. Talk to him, tell him how much he means to you, reminisce - even if he does not respond, he will be able to hear you.

    my thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear this. This sounds very similar to my father. The hospital was able to stop the sickness and made him comfortable. My thoughts are with you at this time. It has not even been a week passed for me and I know words of comfort are hard to take... look after yourselves

So sorry to read your sad news Andrew. This is a very hard time for you, but please know that I will be thinking of you.

Like Sue says, keep talking to your dad as he will be able to hear you.

Best wishes to you and your family.

    Hi Andrew,

Whichever way it happens it's going to be hard but yes, I suspect you're right, the liver doing the deed might be 'kinder' if you can use that word in any sentence connected to this sod of a disease. I hope that when it comes, the end is peaceful and quiet both for him and for your family. You all sound so brave and are dealing with this so admirably. Love Vikki x
