Finally. Made it home, over two weeks in hospital and finally I'm back.
Feels really good to be back, but I would like to take a moment to extol the people who cared for me in the hospital. They are the very best of people, if you ask me, working tirelessly to meet the needs of patients under their care. I don't care what anyone else says now, the NHS is worth every single penny that is spent on it if it filled with people such as these. The level of care and compassion shown to me in these past two weeks has deeply touched me. I take my hat off to all doctors, nurses, sisters, consultants and all the staff of that ward.
I got back before the kids did from school, so I got a lovely scream of delight when I opened the front door for them. Just sitting at home and asking about their day at school felt soooo good. Sitting with them and my wife at the dinner table was a wonderful moment of normality in a world thrown upside down. My lovely little granddaughter came for a visit too, when she toddled over and wanted to sit on my lap my heart melted. Giving the kids a bath, doing reading books, sitting watching the telly, all of was a wonderful return of normal life.
Great stuff.
