Hi Wendy If you have a certificate for free prescriptions due to your cancer diagnosis it covers you for that only... Free prescriptions check out this link www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/1638.aspx

Of course it does cover you for a prescription written by your dentist but not the cost of the dental work. Jools

    Hello Wendy

Sorry but your exemption does not cover your dental work, have you applied for a HC2 certificate

might be worth looking in to,you can pick an application form up from any NHS dentist and some doctors surgerys

You need an HC1 form to apply for an HC2 exemption. It depends on your income whether you get one or not and I warn you the HC1 is a book!!! If you get one of these everything is free including dental work. In the meantime get an NHS receipt to claim back anything you pay

Oh god i feel your pain, when i had r-ice chemo i was in hospital for a week when i was about to be discharged the right side of my face flared up aka abcess!!!!! they got hold of a guy who wheeled me to a room at 11 pm that night and took them two hours to pull out my tooth :( i was having a panic attack in the chair the first 6 needle injections didnt help had to keep injecting my mouth to numb it i was like " FFS PUT ME TO SLEEP!!" i was crying like a baby!!!

i hope you are not as afraid of dentists as i am, but on top of chemo that was enough for me !!!

As for free treatmentall you can do is ask good luck and hope you don't have a bad time as i did xxx

hey kels yes i am petrified, been to the dentist and will need extration, he is asking the hospital to do it under gen aneasthetic. he gave me 2 antibiotics, then got the doc to give me a jab of diclofenic which helped, but today after 3 nights of no sleep, it has come up the size of a large grape i can see it and it hurts, i think its also spreading to my tonsills, lucky me! i am tempted to pop it - see if that helps, it feels like i am beign choked to death.
