MRI scan and pre op tests

1 minute read time.

Well went for a MRI scan the other day, it didnt go well, I am larger than life person and they knew this, yet they put me in a machine that looked like a smartie tube!!! the table was high i couldn't get on it, on all fours, with the boobs out, holding a needle in my arm still, and 2 men doing the MRI, you can imaging I wasn't amused! anyway as i went in the machine and felt the inside rub up against my face i had a huge panic attack and had to get out - so no MRI

today had my pre ops done, went ok, had blood tests, MRSA test, chest xray, filled in a questionnaire about my food intolerance and allergies and about my ME. am really nervous now, it seems really weird and real, which i think recently it hasn't been.

am off for genes testing, but my daughter who is 17 is now saying she wont go and get tested, because she doesnt want to know, which drives me mad! but we shall see once i get my results, she may change her mind.

i want the op over now, i have booked to take my laptop in, because i cant sit still now for more than 5 minutes! let alone 5 days lol

Hi Wendy, you would have thought they

would have a MIR scanner that fitted any size, your ordeal was enough to put you

off.It must be scary for you, but you have to have done what needs to be done, its the unknown that's the scary bit,

but you will get threw it im sure. You just

get on your laptop to us here in macland

we will be rooting for you.As for your

daughter, well she is scared which is

natural for a young girl, just give her time,

i expect she is worried about you, it cant

be easy for her. Will be thinking of you.

  • Hi Wendy

I had a mastectomy and aux clearance of lymph nodes on a Saturday afternoon and they wanted me out the next day. My blood pressure was a little low so I opted to leave on the Monday morning with my drain tucked underneath my arm.

You may find that your 5 days becomes less.

Best of luck with the op Let us know how you get on.

    Love

    Sue xxxx

Hi Wendy, have had 8x chemo & then mastectomy exactly 2 weeks ago. Spent 5 days in hospital, all seemed to depend on the amount of fluid in my drains (has to be less than 30ml), eventually sent me home with a drain in but it had to come out after 7 days anyway. off all pain meds now & able to potter around home a bit more.

My daughter is 20 and also not too keen on doing the genetics test. It does worry me, as my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks back. Just unbelievable......me & mum going through treatment at the same time. Problem is she is at home in South Africa & I'm here in the U.K. Has been a difficult time!!

Stay strong & keep smilin'. lotsa luv Shelley xxx
