chemo to start

Less than one minute read time.

went to oncologist today, she was nice and told me more about the tumour, she said i need to start chemo now because there was vasicular spread in the tumour, but it wasnt in the nodes, so hopefully the little bugger hasnt done anything, 6 sessions which will make my hair fall out and even my eyebrow! they want to fit a line because my veins arent good, bt dont know if i could live with one! i havealso chosen counselling with their clinical psychologist, and have also looked at spiritual / holistic counselling! had booked to see a woman on wednesday but she quite far and i dont think i can handle the drive.

its all becming very real now, and really want off this train. me and cris both ill isnt good! i want 2010 to be better than 2009

  • Hi Wendy

There are lots of ladies on the BC site who have had a line fitted and have no problems so don't despair.

Do not know which chemo you are on but the hair usually falls out before chemo 2. Eyebrows and lashes do not usually fall out that quickly. We all got to be experts with an eyebrow pencil and the stedier handed used false eyelashes too.

    Best of luck.

  • Please just be strong and you will get through the Chemo.

write a blog as that becomes a diary and your thought are then written down --it really does help.

    Good luck

I'm going to see my oncologist on thursday to organise starting my chemo. You've given me hope i'll find out something usefull as so far they've told me nothing about the tumour, they gave me a mastecrtomy and then a lymph node clearence but, i'm guess ing the hard stuff is just about to start. My Thoughts are with you. Try to stay strong

    Hi Wendy

I suffered with poor veins, especially the last chemo, no veins to be found, I would have jumped at the chance of a line - but it is a personal choice.

As for the hair loss, I didn't think it was as traumatic as I thought losing my hair, as Sue says you soon become a dab hand with the eyebrow pencil, and I wore false eyelashes nearly all the way through.

Good luck though, if you have any questions feel free to ask x
