Wednesday 3rd April 14th Day post 2nd Paclitaxel

1 minute read time.

Had a terrible night's sleep lastnight. I just couldn't turn my brain off,  then my leg and arm started hurting and I just couldn't get comfortable. I dozed on and off and finally gave up and got up just after 4am.

Roll on to the appointment at the hospital to see my oncologist. Things just don't seem to be going my way at the moment. My 3rd Chemo has been postponed again as my liver bloods were through the roof. I was really upset as I just want to get to the end of this chemo. Next week should have been my last one but the way things are going its going to be May before I get through this section of treatment. We then went through, how I had been since my last chemo.

I explained all the pains that I had had since the Filgrastim injections started, and she could see I was still experiencing pain in my left thigh. She asked what pain relief I had tried and then she said she would prescribe me some liquid morphine. I can still take codeine and paracetamol and use the morphine when needed.

When she looked at the sore bit on my arm, she did say that seeing I had just 2 chemo treatments to go I could have my picc removed if I wanted, but I declined as I still have my bloods etc to be done and as I'm right handed and my Chemo sessions are 5 hours I don't want to not be able to use my hands all of that time. So I have some medical honey to help with the healing.

The oncologist is going to call me again next Wednesday and she has arranged for me to have my bloods done on Monday or Tuesday, with chemo planned for next Friday. Fingers crossed my bloods are all OK next week, I just don't know what I will do if it's postponed again.

I will update next week, with how things are going. Unless anything happens in the meantime.

    1. Oh dear - it does seem a long journey now Alison with all the side effects causing pain and bloods delaying you. I know how a few days with a sore PICC line seems debilitating so you’re doing so well to put up with it for so long.
I have my penultimate Docetaxel fusion tomorrow and then onto radiotherapy but I’m on a three weekly cycle so I have a bit longer to recover in between.
I found EC hard and was hoping Docetaxel would be better but it’s the aching that has floored me for a few days but nowhere near as severe as yours.
hoping you have a good sleep and some positive news soon Fingers crossedFingers crossed
  • Hi Kaza1

I hope all goes well today with your penultimate Docetaxel. Hopefully your pains will not be do severe this time.

I managed a fairly good night's sleep, with just the codeine, I left the morphine as will need it more after the next chemo. I only seem to get the pains in the nights after my Filgrastim injections.I do try and go for a little walk each day. Wish I was still on EC as my main problems with that were just lack of taste and constipation Sweat smile

Thinking of you today. Big hugs xxx
