Thursday 25th April, 14th day post 3rd Paclitaxel

1 minute read time.

I'm sorry I haven't posted much recently but I have been feeling a little low. I should have finished my Chemo 2 weeks ago but with my bloods playing up has postponed 2 of my sessions.

I had bloods taken on Monday, but when I had my specialist phone call on Wed they said they needed redoing as they had clotted a bit but my infection markers were high. I told them I feel fine apart from feeling low and fed up. I have a stye so obviously a bit run down but not ill.  So now no hair, no eyelashes, very few eyebrows, and I can't wear make-up at the moment. I'm a real uncle Fester. Slight smile

I had bloods taken again this morning. When rang 3 hours later, I was told they seemed to look OK and if I don't hear back my Chemo should be good to go ahead tomorrow. It's 5.30pm now and there have been no phone calls. Please all keep your fingers crossed for me. I just want it done so that maybe I can have atleast a couple normal weeks before Radiotherapy has to start.

I have Radiotherapy planning appointment 7th May so I can't see it starting until June so I am praying we can get a holiday and change of scenery beforehand.

Will try and write more over the next few days. X

  • Glad you are getting close to the end of the chemo, even if it’s dragging out more than you would like. I missed a couple of Paclitaxel sessions through illness, and they didn’t add them onto the end (I was having weekly Paclitaxel so it meant I had 10 infusions instead of 12). I think they will want to give you a short break between finishing chemo and starting radiotherapy. I think from memory my radiotherapy started just over a month after the last chemo. Hopefully you will be given the dates for your radiotherapy at your planning appointment, allowing you the chance to plan a break. We did the same thing, returning a day or so before radiotherapy started.

  • Hi Alison I was wondering how you were. Sounds like you’ve been having a tough time but hopefully your chemo will go ahead tomorrow. It must be so disappointing to have cancellations when you’ve been working so hard to stay healthy.

aren’t the eyelashes falling out the worst? and not being able to wear make up makes you feel miserable.

I finished my last session today and hope the Docetaxel this round won’t have too many side effects. I hardly slept last night with the steroid effect but I’m looking forward to having a bath now my PICC Line is out. Radiotherapy consultation on Monday so will be able to plan breaks when I have dates.

Sending you hugs and fingers crossed for tomorrow Fingers crossedMuscle

    You can do this xxx

  • I am only doing 4 the Paclitaxel thankfully, I will be glad to get rid of the foot and leg pains. Hopefully my weight will start to come off again once I've finished as now put on a total of 10lb since starting Paclitaxel.

We were told maybe 4 to 6 weeks before radiotherapy starts so should be able to get away in this country somewhere.

    Xx

  • Hi Kazza

Congratulations on having your last docetaxel today. I hope you don't get too many side effects. What sort of things have you been getting?

Atleast they gave me morphine to help with my pains at night time. I won't use it the daytime though if I can help it. I have been a lot more tired, and expecting to be in bed for a day or 2.

I wanted to make myself look nice for last day, I'm going to ask if hubby can come in at the end when they disconnect me and take my picc out, as he was there when the put it in and connected me in the begining.

Would be lovely for a soak in a bath. Enjoy!!! We only have a shower now. Maybe we will find somewhere that has a bath and maybe a hot tub.

Hope all goes well on Monday. Let me know how it goes.

    Xxx

  • Wishing you luck today Alison.
I Slept better last night after a steroids induced insomnia night. Mainly aches in thighs and shins but so far ok.but nothing as bad as yours to need morphine

I've so breathless with sore throat, cough and unable to walk very far. I think having my PICC line out might help.
Eating ok at the moment but it’s drinking I struggle with. I just don’t like the taste of most drinks.

The sun is shining here so I’ll have a potter in the garden and greenhouse. Hope it shines on you too Alison Sun with face xx
