Friday 12th April Day 1 of 3rd Paclitaxel

1 minute read time.

Well that was one hell of a long day today.

Up early with the dawn chorus, and that big orange thing in the sky making an appearance.

Got up, had breakfast and made up a picnic to take in to todays Chemo.

I was due in at 1.30 but arrived just after 12.30 as a lovely friend was due her final chemo today at 1pm and we thought if we got there and asked we might actually manage to get in the same unit as we always seem to be in different ones. The receptionist went in and spoke to the nurses so we had our fingers crossed. We sat having a nice chat without having to type everything. My friend (chemo sister) went in about 1.45. So obviously everything running late again.

I had a visit from an old work friend which was lovely. I was finally called in about 2.45, was weighed etc and shown to my seat but Becky was no where in sight, so I just assumed there was no room where she was. While I was having my meds a nurse came in to find me, so after I had all my pre meds, I moved units and we were sat together. Grinning

It was so lovely to finally be sat together. I took in some zero alcohol gin and tonics to celebrate her last chemo, and we had a nice afternoon, chatting and playing on our phones.

I finally left at 8pm, but my friend still had another 30mins to go as had her first bone infusion too. We both have to go back tomorrow as there was a mix up and our Filgrastim injection where not delivered from pharmacy and they were closed at 8pm. On the good side though, I mentioned last week about the single Pegfilgrastim and it looks like that's what been prescribed for me this time so 1 injection instead of 7 is a bonus.

Seeing it was so late hubby stopped and grabbed us fish and chips on the way home. Our first takeaway in over 2years, it was very nice.

It's now 10pm and I think it's time for me to go to bed and see if I can get some sleep. I won't hold my breath though.
