I slept fairly good lastnight and got up early this morning as a guy was coming to fix my main oven in the cooker. I plastered my make-up on ready to go for my Chemo. By 10am I hadn't received any calls saying it wasn't going ahead.
I had to drop my brother to my parents as he took his car for a mot near where I live, so I left home at 10.15. On the way to the hospital I stopped and got a sarnie to help me through the session, along with crisps, and banana.
My appointment time was 12.30, but I got there just after 12pm incase I could have got in earlier, theres always a slight chance. Not for me today though as I went in at 12.45, the nurse went though the check list, did my weight which has gone up, the nurse blamed my clothes, but I said I was naked this morning and I have put on 2kg in 3 weeks. I took my 40mg Famotidinethen then at about 1.45 I started my IV pre meds first the Puriton, then the Ondanserton, which they put through slower as I mentioned the strange tingling sensation I normally get, I only had the slightest tingle today which was good, next came the Dexamethasone. They do a flush between each infusion. Then I was informed about the signs of a reaction again, so I knew what to look out for. ( sudden back pain, palpitations, feeling like you need a poo, feeling hot and flushed, etc) I went through all the infusion without a hitch, thankfully. I had a final flush then I was allowed to escape to freedom about 6.15. It was a really long afternoon, but with a great bunch of people the time goes quickly.
I did listen to music on my headphones for a while, and on going to the toilet, I saw black bits all over my face and neck, it took a few seconds to realise my headphones that haven't been used since last summer must have been disintegrating and it was stuck all over my face and neck. I managed to clean most of it off before leaving the bathroom, but couldn't belive that no-one told me about it
Eventually arrived home at 6.45 I tried my best to gas my husband on the way home. He said It was like sharing a car with a dung spreader, hee hee hee. I just had noodles followed by chocolate torte for tea. I will hold off with the laxatives until tomorrow. I'm just going to relax this evening, hopefully *I'll sleep past 2am. I will let you know tomorrow xxx
