Met with a lovely nurse who went through everything I needed to do before my surgery, what to bring with me and what to expect afterwards.
A lot of instructions and potions to take!
Starting the next day I have protein drinks to take twice a day, laxatives for the day before surgery and other drinks to replace the salts etc that the laxative washes away (sorry if this is not medically quite correct). Also the evening before surgery I have to inject myself to prevent blood clots.
I also have to wash in the special soap everyday, change all the bedclothes and towels each day, just as well I am feeling very well on the whole, but also a bit of a distraction although hardly a way of forgetting about it.
