Help!confused and concerned... wat happens next???

1 minute read time.

Hi, wanted some advice if anyone can help me?? I have recently had a tumour removed from my bladder a few weeks ago and it was confirmed as cancer a few days ago - I am still reeling from the shock! I am just 33 yrs old and my consultant was not expecting this either, I have been suffering bladder infections and kidney infections for many years but have increased for the past year, a spell in hospital with pain/fever and blood loss led to me having this cystosocopy and retrograde plylogram which led to this discovery. I am told the lump has been removed and will need another cystosocopy in 3  months. I believe it was only'superficial' and had not penetrated deep into lining.I am lucky that it has been caught so early,  but reading through everyones experiences and talking to people i am aware most people receive some localised Chemo as a precaution to lower the risk of returning. I however, was not given this. My doc said it was due to the fact that when he did the op he was not expecting cancer, does that mean i will need to hav this done now or in the next three months or can a tumour be removed succesfully with no medication required???? I am  very worried and feel like I am living some kind of nightmare.. why me??? Does anyone else have this problem and is anyone out there who is also of my age experienced this?? I am aware that Bladder cancer is rare in someone of my age and gender.  any advice would be greating appreciated ... thanks mel :-(

hi mel, i had my 1st tummor removed in aug 08 and then i had another op just to check around 6 weeks latter where everything was clear, i found out the tumor was G1 T2 like you i was offered no further treatment, just 3 monthly checks, on my 9 month check it had come back, so i had it removed again it was the same grade only much smaller than the 1st op, my friends off hear adviced me to mention the BCG treatment to my consultent which i did, and i have just finished the course yesterday, so now just waiting to go for another check and biopsy on the 16th of december, you will get loads of help from people off this site who have been throu the same thin as yr self, as they say write everythin down and dont be affraid to ask anythin, you should get a specialst nurse who you can phone with all yr worries and questions, i am female i was 42 when i had 1st 1 removed, but had been suffering water infections and bleeding for about 3 to 4 years b4 the dr sent me for a 2nd oppionion, cause where female and youngish for some reason they dont think its bladder cancer i was just getting treated for water infections untill i actully started passing clots, thats when my gp seemed to take notice, hpe i have been some help to you try and find out as much information as you can take care for now diane x

Hi Mel....If you read my profile...my bladder cancer (CIS/T1/G2) was found in july08..when i had my first TURB..(tummor removal) i had a chemo wash....and also had 6 treatments of chemo direct into the bladder over 6wks...i have now just finished my 12th treatment of BCG..i.v just had my 3rd biopsys and the last 2 have been clear of cancer cells...they may yet get back in touch with you and give you some chemo treatment..but like the others say write any questions down that come in your head and speak to you specialist or if you have a  specialist urology nurse speak to her....No matter what age you are i would think if a cancer has been found i would think you would be getting some form of treatment...if you want to find out more on bladder cancer macmillan have some go cancerbackup books...and if i can be of any help ..i will....johnb..

thanks for all your advice and information. I now have made a list to ring through tommoro. Like you Louise I have been being treated for supsected water infections for years only for them to have no bacterial growth! which should have made the docs do something sooner.. Thankfully they eventually listened to me and investigated or who knows what the sceniro would have been if i had been ignored any longer.. Thanks John I will get some books as well for more info.. I want to know everything!. I am feeling a bit emotional today, I went out with my friends in my local town and I spent the whole evening talking about stuff as they all had questions and some gave advice but ultimately it just was upseting. I wish nobody knew but news travels fast in a small community where everyone knows everyone and gossip about everything!! I did not really feel like going but felt I could not let people down as our night out had been organised for weeks a joint 'wet the babies head 'and my birthday celebration. But did not feel like it - I had a few drinks and also smoked a cigerette which i am angry with myself about - as i have given up and also should not be doing it ! I am not going to again and have learnt my lesson from the guilt i feel today!!  I have only been a social smoker for the past few years and dont need to do it so I am annoyed with myself... argghghhh.. Woke this morning - threw up and took my temp which was 38.5 so I am thinking I have an infection as my bladder really sore today. Concerned as had my op 2 weeks ago - should i still be sore??? anyways, gonna go now as i am ranting.. thanks again all for your support.. over and out .. :)x
