DVT WTF!!!!

1 minute read time.

So 3 weeks after I am officially in remission and I end up carted off to A and E in an ambulance. Diagnosed with DVT! One injection of tinzaparin later and I am sent home with an appointment for the DVT clinic. I turn up at the DVT clinic for my 10 oclock appointment and have another test to prove I have DVT and an ultra sound scan to show a clot in my groin and one behind my knee. I am told it is all related to the chemo I had to treat the cancer. I am now on daily injections for a month and I am booked in for a CT scan. This is definitely harder to cope with than the cancer because I am so dependent on people plus it looks friggin ‘orrid!!! The doctors have said to keep it elevated when sat and to still keep walking but this easier said than done. It is VERY painful and sleeping is hard work cause I can’t get comfy. I hear people say this all time on here “ I am supposed to be grateful the cancer has gone “ and that is exactly how I  am feeling I am supposed to be grateful I am now cancer free but is this the start of a whole list of treatment related problems? I don’t know if I can cope?

    Hi Miss,

I Concur completely with what Jules says in her comment.

You are now in remission, you have kicked its Arse. I have no doubt you have the strength to deal with the side effects. Look after yourself.

Take care and be safe Big Hugs Love Sarsfield.xx

Sorry you're having to go through this - I had one 5 years ago and understand your discomfort.  Keep up with the injections - if you're doing these yourself my advice is don't think about it too much before going for it (!) and I always timed it at least 30 mins after taking some paracetamol (may or may not have made a difference, but made me feel better for it).  The clots will clear, but you'll probably have to continue with the medications for sometime afterwards to reduce risk of further clots forming.  Think positive you CAN do this.  Sian x
