first chemo.

Less than one minute read time.
Hi All. Well I survived my first chemo yesterday, I was really dreading it. I arrived in the department at 9.AM and waited had the cannula put in my hand after soaking it in hot water for about 20 minutes as it is difficult to get at my veins. I was then told the phamacy department were not happy with my prescription and so had to contact the consultant. This all took at least 2 hours and eventually got going at about 11.30, after this all went well really and I must say it was not as bad a I thought it would be except sitting all those hours. My first lot of chemo was 3 hours and 2nd lot 1 hour and eventually got away and home about 6 o clock. So any starting chemo. today its not too bad, and I m now waiting to see what side events I may have, so far just tired. All my Love Ellen xx

    Hi Peta,

Thank you for your kind thoughts, the chemo hasnt been too bad since I had it on Monday am taking the anti sickness tablets and have only really had a bit of indigestion.

I havant had to have a PICC line in but there were lots of people who had them in the department when I went on Monday and it seemed to work quite well for them. I ll be thinking of you next tuesday is that to be done at Maidstone Hospital.

I find the worst part is the mental side, it does my head in worrying if this dosent work where do we go from here, my daughters 2nd baby is due in about 3 weeks and really be able to help her but dont have a lot of energy at the moment, and where my husband is always fairly upbeat he seems to be very down at the moment I think it all getting to him now and I feel guilty putting him through it all as I hate to be a burden to anyone.

Anyway hope all goes well next Tuesday and will speak again soon.

    Love Ellen X
