    Hi Marie,

Yes you can.  I had kidney cancer at Christmas and had my right kidney removed.  I have got my holiday insurance with Liverpool Victoria.  The only thing I am not covered for is anything related to the kidney.  Don't forget to get an EHIC card for emergencies.

try  free-spirit.com       they ask questions online and we found them to be fairly reasonable compared to others   but still expensive compared to normal insurance (talk about being punished for getting ill).  good luck x x

To get proper health insurance when you have cancer - with NO exclusions try Mia online - go to the site, ring the number and they ring you back and give you a quote - they insure throughout Europe very reasonably and have just begun insuring for USA. I was quoted £44 for 2 weeks in Europe and I am terminal and on chemo (tablets) or was at the time of travel. Many of us have had success using this company Good luck and have a great holiday. Best wishes Jools

P.S. They often ask that you travel with a letter from your consultant stting you are fit for travel (oncologist) and that he/sje writes in your medical notes that you are it to travel.

hi there my name is john, i am being treated for PROSTATE CANCER .  But to try and answer your  question,i saw on tele last night ( 20/03/2009 ) in the yorkshire aera a person with lung cancer tried to get insurance and it would have cost him £5000 to go abroad, so they decided to just go to WALES. 2years ago before i was told i had cancer we as a family went to TURKEY and because i had high blood pressure and asthma we had to pay an extra amount, but pleased to say the holiday was enjoyable. anyway i hope that gives you an insite to what you may be facing . IF you do manage to get away i wish you all the best and hope you enjoy it.       take care spk soon.     john.

I myself did have to pay over £2,000 to travel to the USA but within Europe as I have already said you can be insured for 2 weeks for under £50. Have a look and see for yourself. Many of us have used Mia and they are very very good. Jools
