!st Chemo

Less than one minute read time.
Barry has had his first lot of chemo, other that being shattered and nausea he is better than before. I think the worry and not knowing what to expect made him a nervous wreck !! Actually went into town today he was really tired but at least I got him out.

Hello Lynne x Good luck with helping your Barry thru his chemo.  It certainly seems that everyone has different reactions to it.  Even tho it made him tired, I expect getting out and about cheered him up, sort of "normalised" his day.

Keep hanging in there!  Love & Hugs :)

Hi Lynne - I think most people feel somewhat relieved when their first round of chemotherapy is over.  Have the hospital given Barry all the tablets he can take at home, anti sickness etc? You'll probably find that Barry will pick up  a wee bit more each day, which will make life a lot easier for him and also for you. I wish you both all the luck in the world, with lotsa love      kate xxxxxxxxxxx

What chemo is he on? Andrew is getting his picc line in next Wednesday and having his first dose the following Monday, 48 hours of it at home with a pump. He is not too happy about restrictions and was worried about having the line in and the problems there could be with it. It all seems like a long dark tunnel.

Don't know what Christmas is going to be like this year. How do you keep your spirits up?

    Helena.

Barry is on Oxaliplatin and 5FU (FOLFOX or OxMdG)

He has a picc line and other than a problem they had getting it in he is fine with it. I asked him if it was OK and he said he doesnt even notice it now. He had his line put in on a Tuesday followed on Wednesday by treatment 48 hours later on Friday he had his little pack taken off. He did not have as many side effects as he thought and was fairly well. He has had toilet problems it seems everytime he eats it goes straight through. Our doctor put him on prozac because he was a bag of nerves (shaking all over and really depressed) and this seems to have just started to wrork. He has now named his cancer (Charlie ) and is generally talking more about it and I think coming to terms.  His treatment is every other week.

I thought at first it was going to be hell but now Barry is even looking forward - not very far - but its a start. We have goals = Xmas being no. 1

Try to let your feelings out crying is good for you, so they say. Will Andew talk to you or is he keeping it bottled up?

There is a light at the end of the tunnel just keep positive.  I find my daughters are my life line together with the granchildren they give us a reason to fight on.

Hope I have helped, good luck with the chemo let me know how you both get on.

    Best wishes Lynne
