just having a bit of a moan to get things off my chest, 2 weeks ago today i met with my consultent, he told my my bladder cancer was all clear (the best day of my life), he said you can start back at work in a week time, got a sick note from gp 4 one week then started back to work this week, oh he allso told me see you in 4 months time just for a camera check, just to make sure i was still clear, i thought yipee nomore hospitals till feb 09.
well today the postman brings me two letters from two different hospitals 1 for an appointment on the 20th of this month and to my shock and disbelive i get another one to go for a preoperative assesment clinic appointment at a diffrent hospital on the 18th of dec. well all morning iv been trying to find out whats happening my specialist nurse from whiston hospital is on holiday til monday, my consultents secretary is off till mon, so carnt seem to speake to anyone to find out whats going on. do you only get pre op appointments if your going to be opperated on. well il just have to wait now till monday to try an find out whats going on, you think somebody would phone you to prepear you for these letters which they must know you know nothin about. well thats enough moanimg from me got it off my chest now, lets see what happens on monday when i should be able to talk to some 1, il do another update when i find out. not going to worry over the weekend lol easier said than done. lots of best wishes to you all. diane

sorry to hear this Diane. Hopefully it's all a huge admin cock up, and nobody has co ordinated your treatment and diagnosis, I'd take your consultants word over any hospital clerk though.
I tend to agree with Dave of Formby, sometimes the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing, but you can do without the worry of this all over the weekend. It could be that they have prempted the possibility of an operation and put the wheels in motion so as to speak, but now that you have your results and they are clear the pre op is not necessary. I hope that this is the case, try to put it out of your mind until Monday, (. I know its easier said than done) Best wishes from a fellow Liverpuddlian. x
Could it be that the 'camera' check you mentioned will be performed under anaesthetic? In which case you will need a pre-op assessment (although I would have imagined it would be slightly closer to the time) as well as a consent form signed.
hi all, thanks for your comments, well one ot the other nurse specilists fom whiston got back to me, she has cancelled the appointment for the 20th of this month she said now im under the consultent from broardgrren the old consultent wouldnt have a clue why i would be at his clinic cause my records are no longer there, but she couldnt help me with the pre op letter, she said id have to wait till monday to speak with the consultents secetery. the camera thing i have done well last time it was done with local just some cream rubbed in to make it sort of numb lol, weel im on nights tonight so at least i wont loose any sleep worring will be way to busy for that. i work in a nursing home 8pm till 8am, its quite a demanding job but i love it, do 8pm tilll 8am, thats another reason im hoping this letter is as u say admins cocked up, well 1st 1 was by the sound of it so fingers crossed 2nd one will be. the other thing that keeps springing to mind is on my mri scan the specilist nurse did say somethin about my liver, and i carnt remember what, i know she said it wasnt cancer they would just keep a check on it and give me a scan, but now im under the 2nd consultent im wondering would he know about this as well, i will have to ask on monday.
