I think I would ring up the cancerbackup nurses to check out this query! They arent here though over the weekend. If the Smear test showed a few abnormal cells the first line would be a repeat smear in a few months - if it was definate cancer cells action would be demanded. I dont think it is too much to wrry about but as I say check with the nurse helpline on Monday. Best wishes Jools

Hello Diane. If I were you I would go to the local family planning clinic and get another smear done. To double check everything and I would certainly push things along. Maybe try to change doctors if you feel yours is being unhelpful. After all its your life you're dealing with here not the doctors. I have had cousins and friends with abnormal smears, and they had them burnt out, about 15 years ago. It never reccured. So try not to worry too much.  Best wishes.

    Hi Diane,

If you hadn't just got over cancer, I'd say be happy you don't need another smear test until May (because, God knows, nobody likes them, do they?) But since you've just had a worrying time, I don't think you need more worry on top of it all to set you back. So if I were in your shoes, I'd insist on another test now if not sooner. Just to put your mind at rest. And if there is anything wrong, it wants sorting now, not next year! If you get back onto the people who sent you the letter and explain your background, they may well call you back sooner. They may not know you've already had cancer.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes, Shelagh

Hi Diane                     I dont think you have too much to worry about They told you the cancer had ghone from the bladder and the January check up (bi-opsy) is just to make sure they were right.

Like me though you will always have dubts there  If you have then ask  for answers, and be firm.

Just sit back for now , enjoy  christmas and then in January start asking questions.

You know ive been with you all the way and always will be so keep  positive Diane and take care love jimxxx
