HOLIDAY INSURANCE

Less than one minute read time.
Hello Does anybody out there know of any insurance company that will insure a terminally ill patient to go abroad that doesn't cost as much as the holiday itself. I would say that at the moment my husband is OK although the cancer is deemed to be terminal.

Hi Liz - sorry I can't offer you any help or advice re: insurance for travel, but just wanted to say I hope you do hear from someone who will give you the information you're looking for. Life is certainly hard enough for all of us without these obstacles continually being put in our way. I wish you both lots of luck, with love             kate xxxxxxxxxxx

I've always relied on a European Health Insurance Card (prev E111) for Europe. You can then get any ordinary insurance excluding the cancer (as a pre-existing condition), knowing that medical emergencies are covered.

I think it is more or less impossible to get cancellation insurance at a reasonable cost, and have had to cancel one holiday, but got half the flight cost back as a good-will voucher from the airline. Better than nothing.

    Hello Liz,

I understand that recently several members have been able to get reasonable cover from MIA a company which is online. Good luck and happy holidays.

    Sincerely

    Hello Liz,

I received info from Macmillan last year, but it still seemed pretty costly to me. I had a chat with my travel agent who shopped around on my behalf and got a good deal. My excess for declared medical conditions is £33.78 - including Angioplasty and Asthma on top of Cancer. We're off to Cuba next year and they are charging me £55 excess for that. I feel it's imperative that you declare everything accurately, as a number of Insurance Companies will and do exploit any loopholes prior to paying up should you need to make a claim. Whilst I always carry European Health Insurance Card, I wouldn't expect anything but basic treatment with this (and it certainly won't be any use in Cuba).

Get in touch if you need any details.

    Kind regards,

    Terence
