HOLIDAY INSURANCE

Less than one minute read time.
Hello Does anybody out there know of any insurance company that will insure a terminally ill patient to go abroad that doesn't cost as much as the holiday itself. I would say that at the moment my husband is OK although the cancer is deemed to be terminal.

I hope you find something.  I discovered that I am already covered for annual travel insurance through my bank.  I have a gold account, opened when I had a decent income, and as long as I keep paying the service charge on the account, the annual travel insurance still holds.  It excludes any treatment for cancer of course, but I wouldn't go away if I needed any.  I mean that I would get my oncologist's opinion as to whether I was likely to relapse in the time I would be away.

I did also ask if I pegged out, would they bring me home, and they said yes.

I hope you manage to get away and have a great time.

It's a bit of a bugger, isn't it? We have an annual insurance policy as we travel a lot. It covers everything except anything to do with my cancer. So if I have a heart attack or break a leg or drown, we're covered. Having said that, we only holiday in Europe, where it's relatively easy to get home if a crisis should occur.

I think, whatever the cost, the right insurance to give you peace of mind is worth its weight in gold.

    Enjoy your hols!

I got a quote from a company called InsurePink, I found the link on the MacMillan website, but I think they may only cover breast cancer.  There were lots of other companies though who you can get online quotes from.  The EHIC does cover you for EU countries, but a buddy on this website suggested checking the EHIC website to see if the country is covered and what cover is offered its not the same in all cases.

Good luck and I really hope you enjoy your holiday.

    Best wishes

Mia-online is very good - and in January they will start covering the USA. My cover as a terminally ill patient ON CHEMO was under £40 for a week in Brussels. If you go to their website and ring their number they will ring you back. They have 2 conditions : 1 - that you travel with a letter from your ONcol saying that you are fit to travel and 2 - The Oncol WRITES IN THE HOSPITAL RECORDS that you are fit to travel. I paid over £2,000 to go to Florida in March (not with Miaonline) but if I want to go again I will try Mia after christmas to see hwat the premiums are like. Jools x
