TOO ILL TO LAUGH??

1 minute read time.

Are we really going to have to go through the "jokes" debate again?.... are we all too "ill" to enjoy a sense of humour?... just for the record , i have terminal cancer... and yes i do take it seriously... but for goodness sake people... why all the fuss over some jokes, dont you know laughter is the best medicine?... and look... really... you have the freedom of choosing NOT to read them... am i not normal in how i chose which blogs to read/reply to?... i scroll down, see what catches my eye ,then CHOOSE which ones apeal to me... is this not normal?

sometimes i feel a bit low and need cheered up... sometimes i like to think i can help others... sometimes i can`t bear to read sad blogs cos they are too close to home, if im in the mood for a laugh and see a joke i read it... if i`m not i don`t ... why is that such a big deal?

on the 17th of march (st patricks day) yes i`m irish, it will be 2 years since they told me i had 3 to 4 months to live, and i have tried to fit in as much joy and laughter to every day... part of the reason i`m still here, i think... so come on guys.... give us a break, and laugh a little... life really is too short for these petty arguments .... dont want to laugh??... then dont read

    Hello,

I have to agreed with you all whole heartedly.  I'm terminally ill and I don't know where I'd been without my sense of humour its just like an old friend and gets me through my darkest days.

So keep the humour rolling on in.

    Love to you all

I just cannot believe were here again!    All the fuss before because of mine and other peoples jokes and we ended up with a jokes corner and now this again.   I stopped posting jokes eventually because of criticism about quality of jokes blah blah blah.   More to the point it beggars belief that admin are listening to complaints about laughter.  I believe there is a hard core few on this site who are hell bent on causing trouble and somehow manage to get admin to take them seriously.  You couldn't make this up could you?  Sense of de jeja vu or what?????????

I totally agree with you Liz, but I just hope it's not going to go back to the way it was, with a whole section of the home page taken up with humourous anecdotes and jokes.  It's great for us "old timers" who are used to the vagueries of the site and may be looking for a spot of light relief, but imagine if you were new, desperate, looking for help, answers, miracles and all you find are jokes.... First impressions count, and I fear we may scare away people who really need this site.   We mustn't lose sight of the fact that this is first and foremost a cancer support site, we still have a Jokes group, let's try and use it.

I have been on the receiving end of some sharp criticism. I can understand some people wanting to make comment or even feeling so strongly that they  need to make comment. I really haven't got a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the manner in which some people make comment or criticsm. There is some pretty heavy stuff on this site which is not surprising given the nature of what we are facing but that doesn't mean we can't have a laugh if we want one. In fact , some of us get a lot of relief from a joke, a merry quip or a piece of humourous writing. Charlie Chaplin said that laughter was the best medicine and he was right and it is a proven medical fact that state of mind can have a beneficial effect on the recovery from serious illness. Why read it if you don't like it? Cancer puts us and our families through so much. Why self flagellate as well? So live and let live.

    Keep smiling,

    love
