TOO ILL TO LAUGH??

1 minute read time.

Are we really going to have to go through the "jokes" debate again?.... are we all too "ill" to enjoy a sense of humour?... just for the record , i have terminal cancer... and yes i do take it seriously... but for goodness sake people... why all the fuss over some jokes, dont you know laughter is the best medicine?... and look... really... you have the freedom of choosing NOT to read them... am i not normal in how i chose which blogs to read/reply to?... i scroll down, see what catches my eye ,then CHOOSE which ones apeal to me... is this not normal?

sometimes i feel a bit low and need cheered up... sometimes i like to think i can help others... sometimes i can`t bear to read sad blogs cos they are too close to home, if im in the mood for a laugh and see a joke i read it... if i`m not i don`t ... why is that such a big deal?

on the 17th of march (st patricks day) yes i`m irish, it will be 2 years since they told me i had 3 to 4 months to live, and i have tried to fit in as much joy and laughter to every day... part of the reason i`m still here, i think... so come on guys.... give us a break, and laugh a little... life really is too short for these petty arguments .... dont want to laugh??... then dont read

I totally agree with Marsha - we have a Jokes group and we need to use it.  I remember when a good part of the home page was taken up with jokes; obviously it is up to us to decide which blogs to read and which to skip but I do think that for a newcomer it must be very offputting to find a site which they hope will provide help, advice and support and which appears only to offer the 'Laughter is the Best Medecine' section of the Readers Digest.  Humorous writing falls into a different category I think - we are lucky to have so many members who can convey their experience with wit and humour and are helping many of us in that way.  But jokes per se - not on the home page please!

    hi liz

i dont usually comment on these debates

    but

i do agree and i do as you do ...scroll down ..read what i want to read...etc etc

i would like to say though for a new poster

its ok having a joke section ...but...would a newbie know where to find it to post? and equally would a newbie know where to look for a laugh?

im still finding stuff on here and have been here for like "ever" haha ....... so goodness knows how a newbie supposed to find everything

this debate and "scammers" is an ongoing issue it will never be resolved ..... weve all just got to learn to live with it

i would urge peeps not to give up blogging etc because of comments etc etc ......YES DEBS i do mean you

we all miss your blogs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and DREW youve been quiet lately too????

    c.mon BLOGGERS keep on blogging!

thanks guys for all your comments... marsh, kate g and kate 2003.... i agree with you too.... but surely there is a better way to give the jokers a "heads up" about the jokes without an all out war on them.... a simple..  i enjoyed your joke but,...do you know there is a forum especially for jokes? or as kate said, head the blog with joke or humour..... normally your right too...it is hard to find your way around this place...and some of the jokers are new too ... i remember a lot of fuss over jokes before.... and one of the people it was aimed at was toni... who is a lovely peson and also italian... she was totally oblivious of any wrong doing ... when i told her about the jokes section she gladly posted there....

im not saying the home page should be full of jokes... i`m saying that it doesnt warrant the barrage of abuse... it is nice to know that we can still laugh... even in our situation... and newcomers might like to know that too, kezz... too true...debs and drew..... keep on blogging... some of you guys have got to know me over the last year... marsh mate... you know me best of all... i`m quite easy going (i think) and this place was my life line when i first joined i find myself lucky to have found you wonderfull people... and i just think all this hassle not only puts me off comming in ... but do you not think it is more likely to put off newcomers than jokes?

COURAGE IS.....WHEN YOUR SCARED TO DEATH...BUT SADDLE UP ANYWAY.....x

I totally agree with what every one has said about jokes and laughing. It would be a totally miserable and depressing place to be in if non of us had agood belly laugh at least once a day. Laughing is good for you it realeases tensions and can make you feel better even if it is for a short while.

I also read blogs that catch my eye, and from friends I have made on here. Sometimes I cry when reading them, sometimes I even smile and laugh. But one thing that doesn't leave me is the seriousness of the situations that we all find our selves in. I also write blogs and feel honoured that people take the time to read and sometimes post a comment. I agree with Normal about missing your blogs Debs, I used to enjoy them especially your words of wisdom at the end.

    love and hugs Amanda xx

I agree completely with you Liz!  And almost everyone elses points of view too.  Maybe we could have a link from the home page to the "funnies" section as we did on What Now?  Something easier to find, cos it is a bit buried away!
