The cancer is spreading and growing at an incredible rate. Difficult to believe that, in one month, we've driven to the Alps and back for a skiing holiday, had an overnight theatre break and have flown to Krakow for a city break; then we got the bad news about the treatment not working anymore and now Rod can hardly swallow and retain liquids.
He's contemplating not going ahead with 2nd line treatment. Devastated to say the least.
This week will be make or break, I think.
Abdominal and back pain. Regurgitation of all but minimal liquid intake. No energy. The oncologist think his fatigue and weakness may be caused by dehydration. On standby for a bed so he can be fed and rehydrated via an iv line. The cancer is now in his stomach and spreading in his liver, as well as the primary tumour blocking his oesophagus again. A stent is planned and if he's strong enough, Paclitaxel chemo will begin. He will lose his hair with this but has been given a great hat, in readiness. It will be 3 weekly infusions then a break week. The plan is for 3 cycles then another CT.
I have everything crossed that he is able to pick up this week, as long as there is the chance of the chemo working.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
